How To Create In-Joyable Moments

Yeeeeessssss a weekend to do what I want!

Picture it…… Mother’s Day weekend….

I’m lying in bed with these thoughts.  I could sleep in, BUT I should wake up early to do meditation and yoga.  I should read a coaching book, OR I could binge watch a show on Netflix.  I should plan lessons for next week AND grade some papers.  I could lounge around at home, OR I could  go with my daughter to the bookstore.  Do you see where I’m going with this?  YUP, down a rabbit hole of “shoulds'' and “coulds.”  The longer I laid there thinking, the more time seemed to slip through my fingers.  And although I was barely on day 1 of this relaxing weekend,  I felt as if I was running out of time.

Can you relate? Do you find yourself in daily competition with Time? Always using every minute, strategizing how to be more efficient? What’s the solution to make it all STOP?!

Well that’s exactly what I did…. I STOPPED, got quiet and asked myself, what would make me happy just for that day?  And without delay, I felt immediate relief at the thought of not having any demands on my time.  No deadlines, no mental or physical to-do list to tackle, no expectations of myself just for one day.  So I gifted myself with just that!  I got up and made a cup of tea and breakfast, then got back into bed. A little later I meditated, but passed on yoga.  I told my daughter that I would go with her to the bookstore, but I wouldn’t be ready until after 2pm (my only timed activity for the day).  I bought a Sci- Fi book and read in my bed for the remainder of the day; interrupted only by naps and eating.

What about you? Excluding going on vacation, starting a new relationship, finding a new job, living in a new location, or getting MOST things on your to-do list done…. What would really make you happy at this moment?

Practicing Presence

When we take the time to slow down and meet ourselves where we are, we find clarity in the midst of confusion, rest in the midst of striving, peace in the midst of chaos.  If you are a beginner, it is totally natural if your thoughts sound SO LOUD in your head.  It still happens to all of us.  As you continue to practice, you will learn to accept your thoughts without being distracted by them. Through mindfulness, meditation, prayer, or just plain quiet, our inner self leads us to the place of all knowingness.

Fostering Joy with Mindfulness

Your in-joyable moment is now and right here.  Allow me to walk you through a mindfulness practice and work through the thoughts that challenge you in creating your joy/happiness right where you are.
